Can you believe it? Our competitive marching season has come to an end. The Knights Band finished our season with a strong performance at the Berry Center on Saturday and earned 2nd place in Group 4! Although we did not qualify for finals, our showing was very strong and we are very proud of them!
A special THANK YOU to all of our parents for your help during the competition season! It was fantastic, and the students REALLY needed your help and you got it done. We hope you had fun and you certainly made it memorable for the directors and students!!!
Notes for Parents and Students
Starting TOMORROW, students will need to have their CONCERT instruments in class along with their marching instruments. We will begin our preparations for our December 3rd Winter Concert. The concert will begin at 6:30 pm.
Region Band Test #2 is here!
Mr. Zavalla will test the brass, starting with trumpets, tomorrow Oct. 28th.
Mr. Moreno will begin listening to woodwinds on Wednesday October 30th.
Percussion Test #2 will be held on Wednesday of this week, Oct. 30th.
Region Orchestra and 9th grade Region Auditions are upon us. Any students interested can let Mr. Moreno know beginning tomorrow Oct. 28th. The cost is $15 per audition. Please note:
These events are November 18th and 19th. They are school nights and the arrival time back for each of these events could be as late as 11 pm. If you feel this is too much for your student, please advise them not to do so.
The Wind Ensemble is required to sign up for 1 region event for the year. They may use one of these.
Symphonic Band is required one event if their region score is not high enough per student. This will be determined for individuals and not the entire group.
Since our competition season is over we will NOT have marching band rehearsal on Monday and Tuesday of this week. We will do a 3:30-6:00 pm rehearsal on Thursday.
We will briefly run the show, have our senior speeches, and do the Texas required FITNESS gram since our students are receiving PE waivers for the class.
Senior Speeches: We will go over guidelines for Senior Speeches including a fixed amount of time per speech and subject matter with seniors in their respective classes.
Game this week is vs. Creek at Veterans Memorial. We will march halftime and immediately after the game we will have our annual Parent Performance of “On Winter’s Breath”. We must move quickly once the football team clears the stadium and perform. There will be a brief meeting of students and parents on the field, but please keep in mind the officers will be walking around trying to get us to clear the stadium very soon after we finish performing. Please make all pictures and visits quick.
Next week there are NO afterschool rehearsals at all since it is a BYE WEEK for the football team. Please enjoy the time we are giving you back after school for such a great season.
The Knights Football team has made the PLAYOFFS!!
The first game will be the week of November 15th/16th.
We will only rehearse on Thursday November 14th from 3:30-5:00 pm.
We will update the students with the performance plan. We will not do the competition show after this Friday November 1st. The games are mandatory as they are performances. Absences for playoffs will follow the normal guidelines in the handbook. Please email Mr. Moreno for any additional questions.
The next payment installment for the Band Fees are Due on Friday November 1st. Please refer to your charms account for more details.
